November 2016, London: It’s time to shake up Christmas traditions, as BOMBAY SAPPHIRE® – the world’s #1 premium gin – is inviting gin fans and cocktail-lovers alike to break away from the norm and embrace New Traditions this festive season.

Stirring up a unique take on festive favourites, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has launched a unique range of seasonal cocktails which redefine festive mixology, featuring an unmistakeable mix of classic winter ingredients – with a twist – highlighting the artistry and versatility of the gin. From the Hot Gin Mocha; a blend of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, Crème de Cacao and three shots of strong espressoto the Spiced Apple Warmer; with gin, hot apple juice and cinnamon, the new winter collection is perfect for entertaining and offering drinks with a difference this Christmas.

Pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and highlighting the brand’s longstanding commitment to art and design, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has taken New Traditions beyond the latest cocktail collection and into the world of design, to offer a fresh take on classic festive objects. Partnering with six of the world’s most innovative artists and designers, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE has re-invented traditional Christmas items with modern interpretations, including candles, crackers and Christmas baubles. Each bespoke piece takes inspiration from the iconic BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bottle and delicate liquid, creating a one-off, unique spectacle. The designers and items are:

·      Richard Clarkson: Christmas Bauble

·      Greyworld: Christmas Tree

·      DBLG & Brooke Roberts: Christmas Sweater

·      Bompas & Parr: Party Poppers

Each item has been shot by leading design photographer Luke Kirwan and will be featured on Facebook®, Instagram® and Pinterest® from November 29th. Will also be displayed at BOMBAY SAPPHIRE’S iconic Laverstoke Mill Distillery.

At Bombay Sapphire we have a great history in working with artists and pushing the norms, so to celebrate this attitude we wanted do something new and unexpected with traditional festive drinks and items we take for granted. 

She added, “We therefore launched the 'New Tradition Collection' which is a series Bombay Sapphire festive cocktails and Gin & tonic Twists which you can make at home this Christmas. To add to this, we took inspiration from our drinks and worked with six incredible designers and artists to create untraditional takes on typical festive items”.

RECIPES

Hot Gin Mocha

Recipe:

120ml Bombay Sapphire

3 tsp caster sugar

75 ml Crème de Cacao

3 shots of strong espresso

Long shavings of dark chocolate


Method:

1.    Combine the espresso with a teaspoon of sugar in a pan and heat

2.    Add the measure of Bombay Sapphire

3.    Followed by a serving of Crème De Cacao

4.    When it reaches a simmer, remove from the heat

5.    Serve in suitable vessel, such as a mug or glass with handle

6.    Finish with long shavings of dark chocolate.


 Spiced Apple Warmer

Recipe:

120ml Bombay Sapphire

300ml Hot apple juice

Cinnamon stick

Star anise


Method:

1.    Heat the apple juice in a pan

2.    Add the measure of Bombay Sapphire

3.    When it reaches a simmer, remove from the heat

4.    Pour into a mug or glass with handle

5.    Stir with a cinnamon stick

6.    And finish by floating a single star anise on top


 

French 75

Serves one

 

Recipe:

35ml Star of Bombay

15ml Freshly squeezed lemon juice

15ml sugar syrup (2:1 ratio - sugar: hot water)

75ml Martini & Rossi Prosecco

Maraschino cherry

 

Method:

1.    Pour the lemon juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker

2.    Add the measure of the Star of Bombay

3.    Fill with ice, close and shake well for 10 seconds

4.    Carefully strain into a chilled champagne flute

5.    Top up the cocktail with the chilled MARTINI & Rossi Prosecco,

6.    Then gently stir to combine

7.    Finally, drop a maraschino cherry in the glass

 

 Cranberry Pine Twist

Serves one

 

Recipe:

50 ml Bombay Sapphire

125 ml Premium Tonic Water

Pine sprig

Cranberries

Lime wheels

 

Method:

Fill balloon or highball glass with ice.

Add the measure of Bombay Sapphire followed by the premium tonic

Stir gently.

Garnish with lime wheels

The finishing touches? A single pine sprig and a scattering of cranberries.

 

Sweet Clementine Twist

Serves one

 

Recipe:

35ml Bombay Sapphire

20ml Martini Bianco

Juice of one clementine

75ml premium tonic water

 

Method:

1.    Fill balloon or highball glass with ice.

2.    Juice the clementine into glass

3.    Followed by the Martini Bianco and Bombay Sapphire.

4.    Swirl well to mix.

5.    Pour the chilled tonic water over a bar spoon and onto the ice.

6.    Swirl and garnish with a single clementine segment, then serve.

 

Cranberry Ginger Twist

Serves one

 

Recipe:

50ml Bombay Sapphire

50ml fever tree tonic

25ml Cranberry juice

25ml Ginger ale

Fresh ginger slices

Lime wedge

Single mint sprig

 

Method:

Fill balloon or highball glass with ice.

Add the measure of Bombay Sapphire

Then pour in the cranberry juice

Fizz up with premium tonic, and the ginger ale

Stir well

Garnish with fresh ginger slices and a lime wedge

Topped off with a single mint sprig
